Gymnastics and 5K

Just some cute pictures of Sofie- We got a really fun box of hand me downs from cousins' Jayden and Kelsi and so we have been putting together some really cute outfits. The PJ one is Sofie in all the fun character PJ's Kathi sent us Sofie just begs me all day to wear them so we put them all on at once she was soo excited.

Shelley and I did a really fun 5 K while she was here it was perfect for two girls raised on meat and potatoes because it was put on byt the stock yards and they were grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone afterwards (of coarse the thought of a hamburger or hot dog after running made me want to hurl :) The race was at 7:30 in the morning and my nice man Spencer still got up at 6:00 and came to cheer us on- the one day he can sleep in- what a nice guy.

Sofie started gymanstics this week. She had soo much fun. I was suprised at how fast she caught on to things. Maybe we should have named her Shawn -(get it Shawn Johnson)

I was really suprised how fast Sofie just climbs up the rock wall- especially for not even being 2 yet. (does anyone know how to turn the movie?)

Aunt Shelley,Kansas City, and the hair cut

My cute little sister Shelley is here visiting from Oregon and has been here for almost a week. I already don't know how I do it with out her help. She is so much fun to have around. (I just love that my face is so shinny in all the pictures!!)

Well I couldn't take it any longer- only being a 5 hour drive from some of my best friends and not going to play. So with Shelley's help Sofie, Shelley and I drove to Kansas City to party- While Spencer had to do a weekend seminar for school!! Ben and Michelle were like the best hosts ever and we had a BLAST! They have the cutest house in the cutest neighborhood and I was suprised how much fun Kansas city was.

Well I decided after a couple months in the heat of Oklahoma it was time to shorten the hair. This was the longest I have ever had my hair- I swear by the time I got it to the right length the hair style changed to short hair. So during my visit to KC Michelle chopped my hair. I love it- it is sooo light and airy feeling- just what I wanted. Thanks Michelle- (not bad for someone who's never been to hair school!)

We didn't waste a minute while we were together. We went all over downtown KC. One really fun thing we did was that us girls went to a Chris Keegan (Country) concert. KC has free concerts every Friday night downtown, we all know that deep down I am a country girl so I just loved it. We found fun parks, fountains, and free music. Perhaps the funnest things we did and what I miss most about Ohio- just hanging out playing games, laughing and watching the Olympics (it was football games in Ohio). Then of coarse Sofie was SPOILED by Ben and Michelle and couldn't get enough of Porter. I already miss you guys thanks for eveything- We had a BLAST.

Oklahoma

I have been going to this jogging trail by my house in the morning and I just think it is so pretty I thought no one would believe me so I posted a few pictures. I know I was guilty thinking like everyone else- that is not from OK- but I have been presently suprised at some of the folage and hills here. (There are of coarse the flat dry parts too.)

Oh and I had my first day of work and it went better than I thought it would. Everyone there was so nice and I've only worked 2 days but so far it is still the fast pace that I like but minus so much of the stress I had at my last job.

Picture Tag

So I got another picture tag and it couldn't have come at a worse time- but it will be fun anyways. So Spencer had to go on a overnight trip to Texas for school and we have been going like a million miles a minute so I decided today was a lounge day- perfect for getting caught up on blogs when I saw that my friend Kim picture tagged me so just keep that in mind and the fact the we are still unpacking when you see these pictures. I guess the rules are you have to do it right away and you can't change anything:

1) The fridge. It's funny that this fridge is brand new and we don't have that much food but in the picture it doesn't look that way.

2) The closet. So I took 2 trips to good will getting rid of stuff mostly clothes and everything still barely fits.

3)Self portrait. So I haven't washed my ahir for three days and the past three days have been me doing 2 different house's yard work and swimming so can I say gross but I am trying to abide by the rules.

4)Livingroom. It's hard to get the whole room in one picture but yep I am still using the same wall decor different house.

5)Sink. I don't know if you can tell in the picture but there is some hard core water stains here and I can't get rid of them- I have tried like 5 different cleaners- any suggestions?

6)Laundry room. Way smaller than our last laundry room- I can't just do the laundry and leave it on the floor in the laundry basket.

7)Toilet. So glad I cleaned it yesterday because it was GROSS. Three college boys had lived here before us and I had tried everything to get the grime off the toilet and finally broke down and bought a special toilet cleaner.

8)Child- lounging in her elmo P.J.'s doing her favorite things coloring and watching nemo.

9)Shoes. I too love a fast comfy pair of flip flops which always makes me wonder why I have sooo many pair of shoes and still continue to wear the $2.50 pair of flip flops from Old navy.

10) Dream vacation. The cruise we took in March was bascially my dream vacation. I had a hard tim picking a picture though I didn't know if I should use a beach picture or a rainforest picture but I think I loved just realxing on the beach with my man and my friends the most. Sorry about the fuzz I couldn't get it to download right.

So last time I did this tag thing I tagged more people and NO ONE did it so this time I am going to tag some others and I hope someone does it: Rachel, Marcy Miller, Alacey, Kristi, and Kathi.

Barbies already?

Sofie is growing so fast so I am posting lots about her so our families and friends can she how big she is getting. She always wants to be pretend playing with dolls or whatever she can find with a face. We play barbies almost everynight before we go to bed she loves "shopping" she gives all the barbies and herself a barbie purse. As you can see in the picture she found a barbie hat that she wanted and had to wear it the rest of the night. She is quite the chatter box. Everytime I pick her up from nursery it's a different nursery worker and they can't belive how much she talk's. I tried to capture it on video but I guess she's a little camera shy I got her doing it a little bit but it's usually a lot more than this. (She has this thing lately where everything is "scary". I don't know where she got it from but take a look and you will see what I mean.)- Okay I just tried to upload a movie and after like 15 minutes it said it was still uploading- is this normal?

Edmond (the town we live in) had this really fun kid area set up before the fire works. They had this little toddler area where Sofie was having the time of her life. The other picture is her watching the fireworks and I think that the face she is making is hilarious.

We went to the drive in movie thinking Sofie would fall asleep after the first movie- wrong she stayed awake the whole time until we were half way home in the car (like 1:30 in the morning)-party animal I guess.

Well we have a new address I will try to send out an E-mail with our new address but if you don't get and you want it leave me a message and I will try to e-mail it to you.

Spencer has started school and has been VERY busy so Sofie and I have been unpacking and hanging out together. I start work in just over a week- I'm a little nervous. We still haven't sold or rented our condo. I'm getting really nervous about that. I am trying to have faith that it will all work out but this has really been a trial. We have made a lot of great friends here and I do feel like we are being taken care of. We love and miss everyone.

Proud to be an American

I don't know if I am just more emotional than normal lately or if it's because I have a three really close family members in active duty but I am so grateful this 4th of July to be an American. First I want to start by thanking my Heavenly Father for being born into this great nation where I am free to believe what I want and I don't have to worry about the safety of my family. I had a cancer patient that was from Iraq and told me that him coming to America to receive treatment for cancer put his family at great risk. He cannot talk to his mother or siblings in Iraq because his family will probably be killed for talking to him. He can never return to Iraq or he will be killed. He also had a scar on his face that he got from some invasion that happened in the middle of the night. He said he didn't even know what was happening but all the sudden his dad started yelling for everyone to get out of the house and run. They didn't even have time to put their shoes on. I don't know much about the mission or what is happening in Iraq but for people like my little friend from Iraq I think it brings hope.

Second I want to thank some close people in my life that have either served or will serve in the near future for our country- First I want to thank Brandon- Spencer's brother who has left a wife and four kids for 15 months to serve in Iraq. I also want to tell Tina how amazing I think she is for being a supportive wife of a soldier. I have never heard her make a single complaint about Brandon serving. I have learned that behind most of the people I know who have served in the armed forces have a very supportive wife/ mother and family behind them. Brandon thanks for all you are doing for this country we love you and miss you.

Then there is Nick my brother-in-law who for his career is in the Army. I really look up to anyone who can commit their lives to serving our country- what a selfless guy. He is currently in training to fly helicopters for the army. Thanks Nick you are an amazing person. Lisa I think you are a pretty special lady to support Nick knowing that he will be gone alot and taking big risks. (P.S. thanks Nick's dad who has given multipul years to the service)

Third I want to thank my Brother-in-law Brett who is in the Navy. He is moving to Florida in 2 mo. to train to be a flight surgeon. I heard the navy is one of the hardest groups to be in. I don't want to get anything wrong but I think my sister-in-law Kami told me he for sure will be going to Iraq eventually so I want to say thanks in advance and that I am pretty sure that you probably not even mutter one complaint about the job at hand you are such a hard working amazing guy. Kami you are amazing for finding the positive in hard situations- I just think you are a great example.

(sorry I don't have an army picture Scott)

Fourth I want to thank our good friend Scott Lee who has a purple heart from serving in Iraq. He had shrapnel go through different parts of his body when a rocket propelled grenade hit his area. Thanks Scott- I feel privileged to be your friend. Mel you are one amazing women to have gone through everything you have.

One final thanks to some of our dental friends who are currently in the Air force and are in Alabama as we speak for officer training. Thanks Richard and Ryan for serving our country(hopefully by the time you are done the war is over). Thanks to everyone else who I didn't mention for serving this great country.

Happy fourth of July and I hope everyone is grateful to be a part of this great country that I believe was founded by divine inspiration so we could all find our religion to help us get back to god. God bless America.

Update

I know our lives have kind of been lived one month at a time lately so we will update you with our newest evolvments. We finally found a house to rent, Spencer started ortho school today and I have a 2 day a week job at an orthopedic surgery center that I will probably start the end of this month. Our condo still hasn't been sold so right now is up for rent or sale what ever happens first. I feel like we have really been blessed with finding a house and work- thanks for everyone's concern with phone calls and prayers we will let you know if anything happens with our condo.
