Sofie's first skii lesson

After our first trip to Snowmass, Sofie had been begging to go skiing. So we finally decided it was time to give it a whirl. So when I went to drop her off in ski school this was the forced smile I got. Then I had to run and get her goggles and when I got back the smile had turned to tears. She was saying, "I don't want to ski anymore." I was surprised by here response since she was sooo excited all morning. When I asked why she changed her mind she said, "I didn't know my teacher was going to be a boy." Yep she still has a phobia of boys (expect close family members). As annoying as it is sometimes I hope if keeps up right through the teenage years. Anyways, when I was able to locate the female teacher for the class she was suddenly all geared up to skip again and had a blast!
There she is in the purple outfit on her way down
Snowmass is so international. Her teacher was from South America and Sofie was happy to report after class that she had made some "Spanish" friends.
Us enjoying ourselves without kids.
Still smiling after a day of ski lessons. That's always nice to know your money spent was enjoyed.
Going up the hill to show Mom and Dad what she learned.
Working it!
Another beautiful day to ski. Notice Spencer is becoming versatile with the ski's and not a snowboard this trip.

Girls party

So Sofie had been planning a girls party and telling me about it for like a week. I thought it was just an imaginary thing when one day she said, "Ok Mom, it's time to call my friends and see if they can come to my girls party tonight." I was impressed with her organization skills, therefore I carried on as ordered. Unfortunately her friends could not come that night as planned so we opted for the next day after lunch. Sofie's original plan was going to be in the evening with proper attire being P.J.'s so she insisted that even though with was the middle of the day the girls had to come in the P.J.'s. As I already mentioned she had already had everything planned out. A movie with treats and a craft.

Here are the treats and notice the craft next to it in a zip lock bag. She got all these ready on her own before her guests arrived.

More girly stuff, nail polish, bracelets and of coarse popcorn for the movie. She is so fun to have around.
Here is my niece Jayden and I'm sure you have already her braces placed by a very talented orthodontist... Dr. Johnson.
While Spencer was busy straightening teeth in Utah, my sister Kathi was snipping away at the Goldy locks here. I especially like the cool face he has going on to match the hair. hahaha

The leftovers after mixing a cake. The best part!

Snowmass and Xgames

So our first full winter in Colorado we had to get skip passes. The closest big resort to us is Snowmass in Aspen but it is still 2 hours away so lucky us Shelley came with us our first trip up and we all just rotated taking turns skiing and watching the kids. Isn't it pretty though.
Who are these two dorks. hahah Shelley- my little sister and I.
They just keep getting cuter :) Is this a bug or a saber tooth lion, hehehe.
Aghhh such a beautiful sunny day.
Funny thing is these goggles don't look all that big on Luke with his giant Einstien noggin.
So the nice part about having the kids with us was they had this play room/ area with stuff for the kids all day and we didn't have to pay a penny.
The night before we went up there Spencer got wind that the X games were going on in Aspen that same weekend so after a great day of skiing we bundled up and went over to the X games and saw some serious stunts by skiers and boarders! We didn't have a backpack so I had to wad extra gloves, hats and snacks in my coat pockets making me look 9 months pregnant!

Valentines day

Happy Valentines day!
I had big plans to make home made valentines cards with the kids pictures and this is as far as I made it.... to the picture. They turned out cute anyways.
Here is Luke. I was going to put a sucker in his hands.... ya it would have been cute... I just ran out of time.
Here is Sofie and her little class friend at the fun class valentine party.

Janruary Randomness

So my latest addiction, Pinterest- though it has sucked away too much time, has given me the courage to try new things, especially food. But here was a little DIY project that I had been wanting to do for long time, re-upholster the dinning room chairs! I mean why I bought a chair with an unprotected fabric seat and 2 kids is besides me but I'm guessing the sale sign that it came with clouded all my logical thinking, as usual.
So here is the beginning mess, and here....
is the final product with a plastic cover to protect the fabric!
So I know I am really opening the channel for judgment letting you inside my fridge but there is a reason my fridge looks like this. It is because Luke seems to think he can help himself to anything in the fridge, hence the opened half eaten yogurt. He also thinks everything important goes in the fridge which is why Elmo and the pacifier are being refrigerated.
If you couldn't tell by the look on Sofie's face there is nothing more fun in this little town of Grand Junction, for Sofie anyways, than seeing the Cow at Chick-fil-A. It's almost like our own little Disneyland. Sofie LOVES the cow. Occasionally we go to Chick-fil-A on family night when Spencer is out of town and Sofie will just follow the cow around all night. She draws it multiple pictures and never stops hugging him and giving him high five! So cute.
I am so late getting the post's up that I can honestly say I don't remember what made this little monster mouth, but cute enough to bring a smile to my face anyways.
This little boy can really lick the bone clean. He had multiple chicken legs this night and every little peace of Grissel and fat were gone!
Here I was frantically tearing through the sale bins at Pac Sun when I turned around to find this little face staring at me. "Cheese."
We have been so lucky to always live really close to the park. Here are our two little bikers on their way to the park.
And last but not least, 3 little princesses. Some of Sofie's great friends here in Junction, Teegan and her sister Mikaya.

Christmas, Birthday and New Years

We had a crazy busy Christmas we visited 3 states in 6 days!
Our first night on the road for Christmas Shane and Sidni's house. The look on Sofie's face says it all about how excited for the holiday's she was!
Next night was actually a night out with the adults. We backpacked into a yurt in Idaho. This is a picture of my super cute/ tough sister-in-law, Steph, who is 8 months pregnant and backpacking. She just fits right into the crazy Johnson family!
Here is the backpacking clan. Spencer and 5 of his siblings and spouses.
This is a yurt. A large canvas tent with bunk beds and a fire place.
Who is this Mickey mouse?
Our brother-in-law just got back from deployment in Afghanastan brought this sweet pistol for us to target practice. Notice Spencer has the gun sideways- that's kill shot right there!
Our humble abode at night.
A little shot of the inside.
Christmas Eve and the Johnson's. It's tradition to do a Mexican dinner and piñata. The piñata this year was as big as Sofie!
Mexi staches!
ohh lala
the re-enactment
A final visit fro the "Old Man" before the midnight deliveries
Luke making sure to not look at Santa
Then we hoped in the car and drove to the Swendsen's in Utah, arriving late Christmas Eve. Here we are sporting our new PJ's.
The stockings after Santa filled them up.
Sofie so excited to see a little Jasmine head poking out of her stocking.
The beginning of a a wonderful day!
The thing she asked for Aladding DVD. Straight from Santa's work shop. Hence the different cover :)
Now this is hard to get on camera. Luke excited!
I can't tell if this is a look of excitement or a pirate face- arghhh matey.
We had to get them something to cart all their Christmas loot around in.
Sofie got to shop for us at school without us knowing what she was getting and she just got us the perfect gifts. It was so fun to see her so excited to surprise us. Here is Spencer with his football screw driver.
And she got me a little heart necklace. cute!
Loving these awesome road biking glasses Spencer purchased for me!
And of coarse we had to have an ugly sweater party! Loving my brother-in-laws beard he grew out and then shaved just for the event!
Aghh the picture perfect family. haha. My dad said this was the first time he had ever seen me comb Luke's hair. I think that might have been a subtle hint.
Well then it was off to Wyoming were Spencer worked for two days and while there he had a birthday! It was pretty uneventful and I didn't get any pictures but I did have a cute movie of Sofie wishing him a happy Birthday I tacked on at the end of the post. But I tried to make up for the lame birthday by inviting a few friends to go skiing when we got back so here are a few last pictures of our year in 2011.
Me and the girls, Sarah, and Megan.
Then New Years Eve was a blast!
Good bye 2011

This is a funny video of Sofie working out at the Hampton Inn while Spencer was working in Wyoming. She is also wishing him a happy birthday.
